Diamond Wood China Limited provides Accoya® - a proven type of high-performance, sustainable wood for Asian construction firms and Asian manufacturers of wood products. Upon completion of its first production facility in Nanjing, which is expected to be fully operational in 2011, the company expects be the largest single supplier of timber in Asia. Diamond Wood has built strong foundations for future growth with its powerful combination of the exclusive Accoya® technology license, strong Asian government support, and close relations with industry leaders throughout Asia.
Accoya® Wood has already been selected by leading European wood companies as a durable and sustainable material for manufacturing wood products like windows, doors, decking, and even road bridges. Accoya® Wood is made by modifying inexpensive, sustainable softwoods using an award-winning production process, resulting in a new wood material that outperforms teak and other tropical hardwoods.
Diamond Wood is benefiting from major industry, geographic and economic drivers:
● Asia's strong, growing domestic construction market.
● Asia's emerging wood industry export giants - who are now penetrating the US and European markets.
● The rapidly decreasing global supply of tropical hardwoods.
● New legislation from governments and multinationals to ensure that wood product imports are made from certified sustainable sources.
Diamond Wood's exclusive licence will allow it to manufacture up to 750,000 m3 p.a. of Accoya® Wood. Its first factory in Nanjing, capable of more than 360,000 m³ of Accoya® wood per year, is expected to be fully operational in 2011. Although the factory will position Diamond Wood as the largest single timber supplier in Asia, the company will still only be addressing a small part of the growing 24 million m3 per year market for performance wood in China.
Diamond Wood was incorporated in Hong Kong in 2007. It is led by a seasoned management team made up of senior Western and Asian professionals with combined experience of constructing and operating chemical factories in Asia, and marketing building materials across the region.
